Some stuff I made recently: a children’s illo (acrylics + PS) and my entry for one of ConceptAar.org’s Girls Thunderdome, this time we had to make a Tarot card. I chose the World, and used color pencils, Illustrator and PS.

Un par de cosas que hice recientemente: una ilustración infantil en acrílicos + Photochop, y una imagen para un Thuderdome femenino en ConceptArt.org, para el que había que hacer una carta de Tarot. Yo elegí “El Mundo”, y usé lápices de colores, illustrator y photoshop (para las texturitas y eso).

Well I made this one quite a while ago but I forgot to post it there. It’s my entry for the second round of Last Man Standing at ConceptArt.org. Lost it to my wonderfully talented friend Min though! The topic was outbreak, had a hard time getting a right interpretation of it (language barriers don’t help at all either!) and I made it in the last few days before the deadline so I have some mixed feelings about it. Could have been worse I guess…

Hice esta ilustración hace rato ya pero había olvidado subirla, fue realizada para la segunda ronda del Last Man Standing en ConceptArt, que perdí contra mi muy talentoso amigo Min. El tema era «outbreak» (significa algo así como «estallido» o «epidemia», es medio difícil de traducir), me costó un montón interpretarlo y la hice medio a último momento así que tengo sentimientos encontrados acerca de ella. Peeero supongo que podría haber sido peor!

Well first of all I wanted to let everyone (well, all of those whoe were wondering!) know that we are ok and happy here in Madrid, we’re pretty much settled and we’re loving it. It’s a really beautiful city! Because of our move we were without an internet connection for quite a while, thus the lack of updates and stuff. But we’re gonna start posting regularly (yeah right) again now!

And now, to the actual point of this post: This little dragon I posted quite a while ago came in second place in the Stylized Animals Challenge over at CA.org, so they published a small step by step article in the 2Dartist magazine and they were kind enough to send me the link to share it. It’s not much but if you want you can download it in PDF format from here.

Also as it was something quite fun to do I decided to do this little guy in the same vein, I might do some more soon!

Primero que nada quería avisar a todos  aquellos a quienes les interese que ya estamos en Madrid hace un tiempo y que estamos perfectamente, nos encanta la ciudad y la vida acá. Pero bueno, debido a la mudanza estuvimos sin internet bastante tiempo y no pudimos actualizar el blog, por suerte ahora ya podemos volver a nuestro (poco) regular ritmo de posteado! 

Bueno y ahora a la cuestión que nos trae: Este dragoncito que posteé hace un tiempo salió segundo en el Stylized Animals Challenge en CA.org, así que me publicaron un pequeño artículo en la revista 2Dartistcon un paso a paso y me dieron un link para compartirlo. No es gran cosa pero pueden bajarse el PDF de acá.

Como me resultó bastante divertido de hacer quise hacer algo más en la misma «serie» y me salió esto, por ahí hago algunos más después!

This is the illo I made for the Last Man Standing Challenge at Conceptart.org. As Fed said on the previous post, the topic of the competition was “Underneath it all” so I made a pic exaggerating the idea of subconscious thoughts and their difference with what people show on the surface. It was a really fun image to make, it was a blast doing something a bit edgier this time around…

Esta ilustración la hice para una suerte de competencia que se lleva a cabo en Conceptart.org llamada Last Man Standing. Como mencionó Fede en el post anterior, el tema era «Underneath it all» que se traduce en algo así como «Por debajo de todo», así que decidí tomar (y exagerar) la idea de las diferencias que se producen entre los pensamientos inconscientes y lo que se muestra por fuera. La verdad me divertí mucho dibujando esta imagen, estuvo bueno hacer algo un poco más zafado para variar…

The topic was “Underneath it all”, but since I approached the subject in such a literal fashion, I think I’m gonna title this image “The Last Man Standing”. It’s also a humble tribute to the master of all things piraty, Howard Pyle. Click the images to see them bigger.

Esta fue la imagen que pinté para la tercera edición del evento artístico Last Man Standing (lastmanart.com). El tema era algo así como “Por debajo de todo”, pero como lo encaré de forma demasiado literal prefiero llamar a esta ilustración “El último en pie”. Es tambiém mi humilde tributo al maestro de todo lo piratesco, Howard Pyle. Clickeando las imágenes se agrandan.

I’ve been making some plushies for some friends in the past months and I finished this little guy for Rob this weekend, so I’m putting up some pics Fed took of it. I’m quite happy with how it came out!

Well I keep realizing how much stuff I haven’t posted here yet (most from quite a few months ago) so I’m trying to make it up for my past laziness hehe. So here’s some mores stuff, from newer to older. First is a moustached albino bunny and his pygmy whale, a gift for my friend Timmy Wilson who has a blog now!! Then there’s an illo on the topic “Ying and Yang” and last there’s a gouache zombie I made around the same time as the vampire posted before.

Me doy cuenta que me faltan colgar muchísimas cosas en este blog (algunas de varios meses de antigüedad!) así que voy tratando de ponerme al día para compensar mi vagancia jeje. Acá pongo algunas cosas, de más nuevas a más viejas, el primero es un bigotudo conejo albino y su ballena pigmea, un regalo para mi amigo Timmy Wilson que ahora tiene (por fin!) un blog. Después un dibujo con el título «Ying y Yang» y finalmente un zombi hecho en témpera más o menos en la misma época que el vampiro que puse hace rato ya.
